About UsDoug Hudson,President of Hudson Productions, started METRO Bible Study at Prestonwood Baptist Church in 1992. Doug was the Singles Pastor at Prestonwood from 1990 to 1998. Doug is married to Carrie and is the father of two daughters and a son K.K., Macy, and Mac. In 1993, Doug contacted Tommy Nelson and invited him to teach a four week series at Prestonwood's METRO Bible Study. Starting in January 1994, Tommy became the full time speaker. The first series he taught was on Song of Solomon. During this six-week study, METRO's weekly attendance grew from 600 to 2000 people. In May of 1995, Tommy repeated the series and attendance at METRO increased from 1200 to over 4000 people. Based on this response, the original Song of Solomon series and study guide were created in 1995 and distributed out of the Hudson home. It was released by Thomas Nelson Publishers (no relation) in book format in 1998 as The Book of Romance. The Song of Solomon material changed the lives of the Hudsons. The first time they heard the series, their relationship was about one month old. "It gave us the greatest foundation," says Doug. "God allowed us then to start our marriage off on the right foot. The study of The Song of Solomon works!" In February of 1997, the Song of Solomon series was aired on the FamilyLife radio show with Dennis Rainey. The response was unprecedented in the history of their broadcast. Seeing the impact the series was having, a live conference for adults was developed and launched in 1998. In 2002, the Song of Solomon for Students conference was started to take this message to teens. Over 225,000 people have attended one of these 150+ live events to date. In 1999, 2003 and 2007, FamilyLife aired the Song of Solomon series with success similar to the first airing. Parts of the series have also been aired on Focus on the Family. Through the years, several other series have been released. In 2000, the Song of Solomon for Students was released as a video series and in 2004, Tommy's series and study guide on the book of Ecclesiastes (called A Life Well Lived) was released. After 10 years of service, an updated Song of Solomon series and study guide were released. In the fall of 2006, after almost 10 years of speaking at live conferences, Tommy became our speaker emeritus when he passed the speaking baton to several new pastors to continue the message he started.
The Song of Solomon message continues to impact lives of all ages through live events and
via the use of the series. Our continuing goal is to encourage both individuals and churches
in their spiritual growth through the development of Bible-based resources and live events |
